Poreč

Porec, the city on the western coast of the Istrian peninsula, its main monument is the 6th century Euphrasia Basilica, it is in Byzantine style, a World Heritage Site since 1997. It is a Catholic church located in the historic center of Porec. It is part of an Episcopal complex, which includes, in addition to the basilica itself, the sacristy, a baptistery, a bell tower, and the episcopal palace. The current basilica, dedicated to the Virgin Mary, was built in the sixth century at the request of Bishop Euphrasius.
